Artist: Katie Millitzer
Katie Millitzer is the founding artist behind the Millitzer Studio and Gallery. Her creative work focuses on the ideas of collection, value, and the fragility of permanence. She crafts small groupings of ceramic figurines, primarily colorful dogs contorted into letters of the alphabet or figures split into parts that combine to form a whole piece. Once these small sculptural collections are unified as a set, they are often split up and dispersed, further exploring the concept of collection and systems of valuation, both historical and contemporary.
Millitzer holds a BFA in ceramics from Webster University, and an MFA from Washington University in St. Louis.
