Group Art Exhibition: Homunculi

Group Art Exhibition: Homunculi

Homunculi, the inaugural exhibition at the Millitzer Studio and Gallery, examines the aesthetics of the corporeal, and considers the phenomenological presence of representations of the body in art.

Homunculi presents the work of artists JE Baker, Natalie Baldeon, Amanda Bowles, JaNae Contag, Adrian Cox, and Jordan McGirk.

Opening Reception from 6-9pm on Friday, January 31st.

Utilizing the media of sculpture, painting, and video installation, these artists show the body as more than a passive symbolic vessel. The corporeal subjects of their work cannot be experienced from a position of disinterested contemplation, but instead facilitate an engagement with the viewer’s own body. The homunculus, an alchemically fabricated life form, serves as a metaphor for such creations.
